How can DeNoise help you as a photographer? The idea is to make your ISO1600 photos look exactly like you shot it in ISO100 on a tripod. The big benefit of IntelliNoise technology is that it allows higher levels of noise reduction than existing methods while still keeping the photo looking natural. Remove up to four stops of noise naturally and effectively. The effort was spearheaded by a Ph.D in Computer Vision with twenty years of experience in the field, and the culmination of that effort means that the IntelliNoise™ technology exclusively powers Topaz DeNoise 5. The goal of the project was to discover a noise reduction solution that was actually capable of recovering detail as well as removing noise. Topaz DeNoise 5 is powered by a leap forward in noise reduction technology - IntelliNoise™ - which was developed in-house by Topaz Labs after years of research into image processing. The trick is to only remove noise and not detail - something that is exceedingly hard to do.Įnter IntelliNoise noise reduction technology. On the other hand, too much noise reduction destroys precious photo detail and sharpness, which also compromises your art. An excessive amount of noise ruins an image by taking attention away from the photo's qualities. If this happened only relatively recently, it would make the cat’s impact on native wildlife ‘fresh’, certainly on the slower time-scale relevant for ecology and of evolution. First, we don’t know how long ago feral cat populations – with their larger impact on native animals – became established in Cyprus. However, there are two points I think are worth stressing in this context. The cat is, as already stated, not a new arrival to Cyprus, and some introduced species come to fall into the ‘naturalised’ rather than ‘invasive’ category, with a balance apparently found with native species. Ecological havoc can, and often does, ensue. Plants – such as Acacias or the Bermuda Buttercup in Cyprus – can be serious invasive pests, and so can animals, especially predators, which take advantage of the fact that native prey have not evolved suitable defences. A small but dangerous proportion of these introductions become established in local ecosystems, gain ground and become invasive, wiping out native species. Throwing off the ecological balance carved out by species that have mostly co-existed for millennia by suddenly chucking new species into the ‘mix’, is something we humans are very fond of doing, as we transfer species across the globe, either by accident or deliberately. Invasive species are recognised as one of the big drivers of the global biodiversity crisis, part of the ‘deadly five’ along with habitat loss and degradation, over-exploitation, pollution and Climate Change. On small islands in particular, free-ranging cats have caused or contributed to 33 modern-era extinctions of birds, mammals and reptiles, as reported in a review of the issue in top scientific journal Nature (Loss, Will & Marra, 2012). Globally, cats are recognised as among the top 100 worst non-native invasive species. The evidence is that however well-fed a house cat might be, it will still hunt, especially if allowed out by night. This translates into a large predation pressure on wildlife, be this reptiles, amphibians, mammals or birds. Owned and unowned cats sum up to a very large population of non-native (as in introduced) predators in our towns and countryside. Even though these ‘cat hotels’ often involve neutering programmes – a very wise move – cat numbers seem to grow steadily at such feeding points. Especially in recent years, a large and growing number of ‘feeding stations’ have sprung up across Cyprus, in parks and elsewhere, where well-meaning humans put out food and provide makeshift shelters for stray cats. So cats are no ‘new arrival’ to Cyprus, and they have certainly made themselves at home.Ĭats are enduringly popular pets but have also always ended up as strays, abandoned by their owners to turn feral, or in some cases to end up as something in-between, strays that are fed by humans. Indeed there is evidence that it is the cat’s abilities in snake, rat and mouse control that led to its domestication by man, many millennia ago.Īrchaeologists have identified evidence of cats as pets in Cyprus – in the shape of cat remains laid alongside a human skeleton in a grave – dating back some 9,500 years. For cats Felis catus are very effective killers of not just snakes and other reptiles, but also of amphibians, rodents and birds. These tales – for that is what the archaeological evidence suggest they are – indicate these great women of old knew a thing or two about predation. Or maybe it was Queen Cleopatra of Egypt who initiated the ‘feline ferry express’, about 250 years earlier and with a similar goal in mind. Legend has it that Agia Eleni (aka Roman Empress Saint Helena) had the island’s first cats brought over by boat from Egypt about 1,800 years ago, in a ‘snake-bashing’ bid. I'm not sure about other databases, but in Oracle, you can subtract a fraction of a day to do this (e.g. If you still have any questions, the comments section is open for you. You can convert the Date to milliseconds, subtract 10 minutes worth of milliseconds from that number, and construct a new Date object using that value. I’m sure that I have cleared your thoughts regarding the GMT to CST and CST to GMT time conversion in excel 2016, 20. JST to CST can be achieved by just subtracting 14 hours from the JST timeĮastern Daylight Time is 1 hour ahead of Central Standard Time. To convert CST to JST just add 14 hours to the CST time. JST (Japan Standard Time) is 14 hours ahead of CST. Generic Formula For (MM/DD/YYYY hh:mm:ss AM/PM) Format =Timestamp + TIME(6,0,0) Generic Formula For (hh:mm:ss AM/PM) Format =Timestamp + 1 + TIME(6,0,0) To convert CST to GST time just replace minus (-) sign with plus (+) sign. As I explained, Central Time is 6 hour behind Greenwich Mean Time, we just need to add 6 hours to convert CST to GMT. To convert CST to GMT time just add 6 hour in CST time. Convert CST (Central Standard Time) to GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) newInstance(year, month, day) Constructs a Datetime from Integer representations of the specified year, month (1Jan), and day at midnight in the local time zone. You can use this formula to make a live GMT to CST converter. newInstance(date, time) Constructs a DateTime from the specified date and time in the local time zone. To know what time is it now central time just use above Formula with NOW() function =NOW() - TIME(6,0,0) Right, because we have a date associated with that time. You must have noticed that we don’t have that additional +1 in the formula, why? To get it converted into CST time zone we just need to enter the formula below into B2 and then drag it down. You can simply subtract 6 hours using TIME() function to convert GMT into CST in excel 2016, 2013,and 2010. Generic Formula For (MM/DD/YYYY hh:mm:ss AM/PM) Format =Timestamp - TIME(6,0,0) +1 adds 24 hours to the given time that prevents error. So when you subtract 6 hours from 5:00 AM it results in an error since there are only 5 hours available. Excel doesn’t know the history before that. When you just enter time in a cell without any date, excel by default takes as date, which is excel’s first date. Getting date time stamp difference in hours, minutes & seconds. mercial(date.year,date.month,date.day,date.hour-x,date. You subtract 6 hours and you expect to get to 11:00 PM. (This also works with seconds, minutes, days, and years) if you're using just Ruby, DateTime can't do this, but Time can: t Time.now t t - (hours602) Note that Time also stores date information, it's all a little strange. Let’s say you want to convert 5:0 0 AM into CST. You must be wondering why there is an additional +1. The formula is simply subtracting 6 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds to convert GMT to CST. We will use the TIME() function of excel. We just need to subtract 6 hours from A2 to successfully convert GMT to CST. I have GMT timestamps in range A2 to A4 and I want CST time in range B2 to B4. Generic Formula For (hh:mm:ss AM/PM) Format =Timestamp + 1 - TIME(6,0,0) So, to convert GMT to CST we just need to subtract 6 hours from GMT time. In addition, we need to get the difference in timings in Microsoft Excel.Ĭentral Standard Time (CST) is 6 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) or Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), sounds familiar no). Cornus mas samples may represent a novel dietary source of valuable α-linolenic acid from n-3 PUFAs family. The major PUFA was linoleic acid (C18:2 9c12c): 7.93 (in leaves) – 60.18 g.100 g -1 of oil (in seeds) the second most abundant was α-linolenic acid (C18:3 9c12c15c), especially in leaves and flowers (24.59–30.22 g.100 g -1 of oil, respectively). Lipid fraction was extremely rich in PUFAs: 32.52–61.86 g.100 g -1 of oil. Among MUFAs oleic acid (C18:1 9c) 3.25–19.61 g.100 g -1 of oil dominated, with the highest content in fruits. SFAs were represented by palmitic acid (C16:0) 10.87–32.20 g.100 g -1 of oil. The application of GC enabled detecting 14 fatty acids in lipid fraction extracted from Cornus mas samples, belonging to all groups. Leaves proved to be extremely rich in carotenoids, mainly β-carotene (88.5 mg.kg -1) compared with the rest of the plant. Cornus mas contained a substancial amount of lipids (3.34–5.23%, except fruits). Protein content (2.27–10.58%) was generally higher than in many wild or cultivated fruits, while flowers were distinguished by the highest content (10.58%), as compared with other studied parts of this plant. The most importantly, it was concluded that the contents of studied nutrients differed significantly (p <0.05) depending on the morphological part of plant. Cornell University Press, Ithaca, NY.The aim of this study, focused on the nutritional value of different morphological parts: leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds of Cornus mas L., was to determine the contents of essential nutrients, fatty acid and amino acid profiles, and the content of selected elements. The American Phytopathological Society, St. Laboratory Guide for Identification of Plant Pathogenic Bacteria. florida in the northwestern United States (2) however, this is the first report of P. Samples of the bacterium were sent to Texas A&M University, College Station, for fatty acid analysis, and the results confirmed the identity of P. The bacterium had a positive reaction to the Levan test and negative reactions to potato rot and arginine dihydrolase tests and was identified as Pseudomonas syringae (1). The bacterium was reisolated from inoculated plants, was characterized as gram-negative and rod-shaped, and produced fluorescent pigment on King's medium B agar. A bacterium was isolated from infected plants and tested for pathogenicity on C. Disease symptoms were restricted to early spring during wet and cool weather later in the season new growth was free of symptoms. These lesions eventually coalesced to form large dark necrotic patches that covered a large portion of the leaf or the entire leaf. In early stages, leaf infection consisted of discrete lesions, angular in shape and surrounded by a chlorotic halo. The disease affected mostly leaves and young shoots, causing dark brown necrotic lesions and some die back. mas plants within the nursery and has caused severe damage for three consecutive years. In Tennessee, a leaf blight was first observed during spring 1996 in nursery plants imported from Europe. Cornellian cherry has demonstrated longevity and adaptability and has had no previous disease or pest problems. Cornellian cherry (Cornus mas) is an enduring dogwood that is primarily grown as an ornamental plant in North America, but in parts of Europe, its fruit is eaten fresh or pickled or made into soft drinks, wine, and liqueur. The majority of these birds are domestic or wild fowl like chickens and turkeys, and waterbirds, such as geese, ducks, grebes and so on. Then there is the other type, called precocial, and they are born with a fine layer of well-developed down all over, have open eyes, and actually leave the nest around 1 or 2 days after hatching. They depend on their parents for food, warmth and protection, and will only leave the nest when they become nutritionally dependent i.e., they can get their own lunch. There are two types of chick, those born with pink exposed skin with perhaps a few patches of down feathers, and with closed eyes, and these are known as altricialbirds. As with any potential emergency, the very first thing you should do is assess the situation The key thing we are looking for here is feathers. We don’t mean knowing the exact age, either. We know, birds don’t carry ID, and you can’t ask them. You may well need to, but there’s a mental list of a few things to check off first. Take a few moments to study the birdand the environment around you and the bird, and resist the urge to step in just yet. If you can, avoid any handling at this stage, and stay quiet – this bird will be stressed, so keep children and pets away from it. If it’s not yours, employ a little water play and squirt water at it, that usually sends them running… Are there any cats or dogs nearby sniffing out a small snack? If yes, and the animal is yours, move the animal rather than the bird, and take it indoors. Are there any risks involved – is it near or on a road or a busy path like a cycle way? If so, you’ll need to follow the steps below and move the bird to safety, but not too far from where you found it. You know you should do something, but what? Risk assessmentĪs with any potential emergency, the very first thing you should do is assess the situation. Then one day, you find a bird on the ground. But: let us assume all is well, food is plentiful, and those demanding little darlings are growing. We don’t want to disturb the nest or let the parents know we know it is there, and potential predation equates to the same thing: maintaining energy levels is paramount, and birds would rather abandon a nest that seems in peril than exert any more energy on chicks that might not make it, and will head off somewhere else that is safer to try again. If you do become aware of a nest site, always keep your distance, and if you live in a vicinity that has a noticeable population of cats, try and keep an eye on it from time to time. These birds are now doing the work of the parent – finding food, finding it fast, and finding it often, or the little ones may not make it. You may live near an abandoned building or open barn close by keep a watch out for owls at night or swallows and martins flitting to and fro during the day in the summer skies. If you have trees, shrubs or hedges in your garden or nearby, you may notice bird traffic increasing back and forth. Somewhere, tiny birds are growing ever bigger, becoming ever louder, and jostling with their brothers and sisters for attention from mum and dad. Birds have chased off rivals from the territory, charmed the females with some ever-so-sexy courtship display, and mating has occurred, hopefully successfully. Spring and summer are welcome seasons for many, and with the new seasons comes new life. Sometimes the best thing you can do is absolutely nothing That sounds like we’re advocating cruelty, but bear with us, we will explain. We say, “if anything”, as contrary to that caring urge many of us get when we see a life in potential danger, sometimes the best thing you can do is absolutely nothing. (This is explained in the next section.) However, none of those major services has changed its host addresses in some time, and it’s unlikely a problem with an account with one of them is related to a hostname change. If your account was set up as a preset option-like Apple, Google, or -through Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account (iOS/iPadOS) or System Preferences > Internet Accounts (macOS), you have to remove and add the account again to reload fresh details. In macOS, open the Mail app and go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts, click the account in the left-hand navigation bar, then click Server Settings. In iOS/iPadOS, go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > account name > Account. Apple’s iCloud server names can be found on its “Mail server settings for iCloud email clients” page. Go to your mail host’s website and check for their IMAP/POP and SMTP support page. You can check if a retired hostname is the culprit. Even if you created an account manually, you likely copied and pasted values from the mail host’s support page and didn’t memorize the addresses! If you set up your mail account using the streamlined process available in iOS, iPadOS, or macOS, Apple hides most or all of those technical details, or you see them just in passing. You may have therefore ignored any email informing you of the change. However, you’ve probably never paid attention to a hostname. They usually provide a transition that lasts months or years and send updates via email warning of an upcoming deadline, after which the hostnames will stop working. Mail-hosting companies do sometimes change the hostnames of their incoming and outgoing mail servers. Create a new app-specific password and see if that solves the problem. These passwords should remain working forever, but sites may reset or expire them for security reasons or their own policies. These passwords, which you create on those companies’ account-management websites (like ), only allow syncing with those three kinds of services. App-specific password expires: Many multi-service hosts, like Apple and Google, opted years ago to limit the risk of exposure of an account via calendar events, contact cards, and email message synchronization by creating app-specific passwords. To resolve this, you will have to create a new password via the host’s website. (If you provided an alternate address for contact, they could send a message there.) Because you can’t know, it’s a good reason to check your mail host’s website or status page, as explained above. There’s no way for the company to reach you other than via email. Host resets password: When there’s an attack against a service that manages accounts (mail or otherwise), they may take the prudent step to reset all passwords whether or not they know a successful breach occurred.(I use Postbox and it provides a special pop-up web sheet in a window for this purpose.) For one of my mail accounts, I have to refresh my email token weekly with a fresh login or access email is blocked. This occurs largely with corporate-style mail systems and web-hosted ones deployed by Google, Microsoft, and others for small and large businesses alike. Token expires: You’re using a connection that creates a token stored in Mail, and the mail server causes that token record to expire. However, there are some circumstances in which your legitimate email account and password need re-entry or a new password created: Your settings should never become corrupted: there’s no reason to re-enter details that were perfect the first time around. An app-specific password may have expired or been revoked. Rent your lake house on LakehouseVacations!
